Akasha

The other day I got an email from Cosmos Ray of the band Akasha out of Chicago. He sent me their latest album and asked me check it out. I was a little hesitant to listen because most of the time people send me some pretty odd stuff but their project was pretty good. It was just down right good music. They’re definitely a band I’d go check out live with some good friends and few a cold pints of Guinness.

Akasha is a fusion of deep groove reggae, blistery blues rock, and hip hop flavors with pure melodies and rich vocal harmonies. Stylistically, Akasha’s base elements are never forced but always flow seamlessly from one song to the next. Akasha’s diverse approach gives birth to an unmistakable variety of heavy, raw grooves reminiscent of Bob Marley and the Wailers, Jimi Hendrix, Muddy Waters, and the Roots.
