The State, The Cities, and The Towns

It’s been a long time and I’m back with another picture packed post for the New Year. Where has the time gone? The last thing I remembered was eating a scrumptious meal at Avenue Sea in Apalachicola then BOOM; it is January and I’m back in the lab getting this post out to you. But what happened in the mean time…I mean in between time since you and I last met. A lot, take a walk with me.

After putting the lid on the final edits for the Apalachicola shoot I caught I flight to NYC and headed home for the holidays. It felt good to be back home for a few days so I wasted no time making my rounds visiting friends and family. I literally took over a thousand pictures but since you’re on a tight schedule I’ll only share a few. Check it out:

South Jamaica Queens – This is my old neighborhood. I used to live on the third floor of this very building.

Jamaica Avenue – My favorite places on The Ave are The Coliseum, Hot Waxx, and a mixtape spot on 165th street.

Spanish Harlem – I was here to visit family and attend a shoot for a grass roots music video. This was one of the many locations they filmed at. I was so moved by the murals I decided to take a picture.

Columbus Circle – One of the things I miss about NYC is the subway. While waiting in the wrong place for the right train to the Bronx I caught some very cool jazz.

The Waverly Diner – One of my favorite places to go in The Village. I didn’t eat there this trip but it felt good to stop by.

Damascus, PA – I headed up to the mountains and took this picture behind my mentor’s home. I seriously love it up there.

Tetris – I am a HUGE fan of Tetris and while I was in Pennsylvania I had a phenomenal game. I got to level 110 which is 999 lines and had a score of 2,271,284. Beat that!

State Street Grill – I visited my sister in Montclair, New Jersey. We had lunch at the local diner and that’s her in the picture.

My Cousin Mikey – Mikey and I had a blast out in SOHO. As you can see he is still a twisted from his late night strawberry shake.

The E Train – My little sister took this picture. It seems she is becoming quite the shutterbug as well.

The crew has seriously been on the go for the last few weeks filming a variety of subjects. So far I’ve gotten a chance to get aerial shots by way of a parasail, film rare birds like painted bunting, film the mangrove tunnels in the Everglades in a canoe with the skipper, take pictures of people swimming with the manatees, film the wild in a air boat also in the Everglades, filmed a few hotels, and some very cool spas.

I Love This Job.

Secret Santa Chocolate Turtle Cheesecake

Before I initiate my keyboard to type another character I would like to give a big shout to my Secret Santa for the cool holiday characters and wine charms! If you’re ever in the See Magazine area come on by the office and take a gander at the collection sitting on my widescreen monitor. I didn’t break the head off of Santa’s Elf though; I think one of my colleagues thought it was edible. Either way, my gifts are most appreciated.

If I had to specially designate a word to describe this week it would definitely have to be CHOCOLATE! It’s not even Friday and I’ve already had about 3 mini Mr. Good Bars, 1 mini Special Dark Chocolate, four or five Ferrero Rocher chocolates, some Reese cups, 2 mini white chocolate Kit Kat bars, and a white chocolate truffle courtesy of the crew’s Secret Santas as well the array of candy bowls graciously placed throughout the building. Sharing is caring and I’m feeling the love.

Saturday was fun. Skip, Ben, Sunshine, Paco and I all headed out on the TV-RV to film St. Petersburg nature videos. On the way there Ben and I went head-to-head battling each on our Nintendo DS consoles in about thirty-something games of Tetris. Tetris never gets old. Ever.

A soon as we landed at Weeden Island Preserve, we immediately came in contact with an endangered gopher turtle. I got into NG mode (National Geographic) and got all up in his face! BAM! Smile for the camera, endangered gopher turtle. He tried to waddle away but I kept on him until I got the shot. Yeah he hissed and hid in his shell but I waited patiently until I got what I came for. He knew I wasn’t going anywhere so after a few seconds he gave me what I wanted. I thanked him, put a twenty on his shell, and went about my business. Just kidding. The truth is the gopher turtle was quite nice and he let me film him with no problems. He was kind of a ham and I didn’t have twenty dollars.

After the nature shoot we headed to Dunedin for dinner. We dined at this unique-looking restaurant called Kelly’s. My meal was cool but my desert was better. It was so good I had to take a picture of it:

I also met the legendary Arnold Palmer two days ago at the Bay Hill Club. Now that I’ve been to numerous tournament courses over the last few months, I can give you an opinion based solely on my experiences and sincerely say that the 27 holes at Bay Hill are beautiful. We did take a picture with Mr. Palmer but it’s still on the TV-RV. I’m sure one of my compadres will share it with you in their next post. He gave us all autographs and signed the TV-RV. He was super patient and super cool.
