Back at the Lab

14 Nov

First and foremost, before I get going any further in this week’s blog post, I want to give a BIG shout to the good folks at Bistro AIX out in Jacksonville Florida. Why? Only because they ROCK! And because they gave The Crew lots of love and hospitality when we shot there last week. The kitchen staff even blessed me with one of their sporty hats. How cool is that?

If your ever in the Jacksonville area stop by for food that is so good that I literally called home to tell my friends and family about. Seriously.

I’m writing this blog post back at Head Quarters this week and that’s cool with me. I’ve been home for a few days now and it has been quite relaxing. In the last few days home I’ve gotten a chance to do the following:

  1. Finish up watching the first season of Heroes
  2. Got a little bit closer to getting to the end of my Zelda – The Phantom Hourglass game for the Nintendo DS
  3. Saw a very cool film called Martian Child with Jon Cusack
  4. Ate lunch at Word of Mouth with a gift certificate from my neighbors at SEE Magazine
  5. Tried to cook tilapia and failed miserably because I forgot to add lemon juice
  6. Edited a behind the scenes video call Fete De Moustache

Mustache Party

I am getting a little antsy to hit the road again but I will be fine. Plus Skipper, Wipeout, and I will being film some called the “Mane Event” this weekend that I’m looking forward to. Truth be told La Chica is lobbying to get me on a horse and if the equine isn’t too crazy looking I’ll give it shot.

A Few Days In Jacksonville

7 Nov

We’ve been in Jacksonville for the last three or four days filming at numerous locations. The location we’ve been stationed at has quite the inspiring view. Check it out this cool night pic Claude took:

Jacksonville Beach

If I ever return to this beach I will rent a surf board. Watching the guys and gals go at it in the ocean looked like perfect weekday fun. I’d also bring a fishing rod because from what I saw there is a lot of nice size fish to be caught.

St. Johns River

I’m a big fan of cool air and it’s been pleasantly breezy here in Jacksonville, so it was really a treat to cruise the St. Johns River in a power boat going at a top speed of 41 miles an hour. I know that may not sound like much, but with no windshield in open water it feels more like 85.

Nature Segway Tour

Yesterday, the crew rode Segways with wheels that looked like they should be on a Hummer. Since I got a chance to ride a Segway in St. Petersburg, I volunteered to ride on the back of a pickup truck and film them as they hit the trails. Once we hit the forest, I was immediately swarmed by the most aggressive mosquitoes I’ve encountered since Mississippi. I got bit all over my arms, legs, neck, and face. Since I swell up when bitten it looked worse than it really was, but I was very happy when we wrapped the shoot.

Today we we’ve got a variety of shoots ranging from a cool a museum to a nightlife piece at The Jacksonville Landing.
